Re: problem with new xcaswininst

Good news? Not really ... I've now tested the new version of today, and it's only a bit faster - it still needs ~2 min compared to 1 sec in the 64bit version (or the old 32bit version). IMO there must be any other serious problem, because parsing a file can't take more than 100-times longer. Edit: I...

Re: problem with new xcaswininst

The parser is way slower than with cygwin, I have no idea why : it's exactly the same bison/flex output than on Unix or with cygwin. Ive already seen such compiler differences in some other programs: e.g. the program DosBox-X contains several different versions, and the VS build is about 2.5 tmes s...

problem with new xcaswininst

Hi, I'm wondering what happened to the new Xcas version (xcaswininst.exe)? This new version is SO SLOW that it's in fact unusable! It happens with lots of files loaded via 'Help > Examples' - e.g. demo\calcform.xws: After loading this file in the previous versions (installed with xcasinst.exe or xca...

Re: 1.2.2 stable

1.2.2-63: binaires disponibles aussi en windows 32, mac os x.6 et linux 32 bits archaique. Well, the file 'xcasunst.exe' has todays date, but it's exactly the same version as more than one month ago (from 12th May). :( (I've checked it with a byte compare) And for 'xcasinst.exe' it's the same, it's...

No more Xcas updates?

Hi,

is the Windows version of Xcas not updated anymore?
The last release has been more than 1 month ago ... :(

Re: serious problem in Xcas

But x may be assigned to say 3, a or a+1. If it's 3 or a+1, then it's clear it should not be evaluated. But how do you make the difference between a as integration variable or as a polynomial of degree 1 depending on a parameter ? You can't. Well, 2 remarks: 1) exactly the same reason would then al...

Re: serious problem in Xcas

Well, I don't think it's a good idea to change that now, but I can add the following syntax int(expr, unquote(var)) I don't know what you mean with this 'unquote'. Well, I don't think changing this strange behaviour of 'integrate' (i.e. let it evaluate also its 2nd argument) would have any side-effe...

Re: serious problem in Xcas

This has indeed a side effect, you must either always use the same symbolic variable or subst the actual integration variable by a local integration variable Oops, that's indeed a bit strange (and uncomfortable), I don't know any other CAS where this has to be done in such a complicated way - quite...

serious problem in Xcas

Hi, while defining some own functions in Xcas (Windows version) I've found a serious problem - let me give 2 examples: diftest(f,x):={ return(diff(f,x)); } This function is ok, it returns the expected results: diftest(x^2,x) --> 2*x diftest(a^2,a) --> 2*a And now the same with 'integrate': inttest(f...

Re: Problem with the WIndows version?

Just a question:
is it ok that xcas.exe is still dated 15.2.2015, when the other files (giac.exe/dll) are updated with todays date 25.2.2015?

Re: Problem with the WIndows version?

Same problem now reappearing again:
yesterday and today new (?) xcasinst updates, but just exactly the versions from 9.Jan.
There seems to be something seriously broken with your build process.

Edit: Fixed, now it's a new version, thanks!

Yes, at least it seems so.
Xcas itself is still reporting 1.1.3-12, but version() says giac 1.1.3-14, so I guess it's ok.

Thanks,
Franz
